When was the first time you realised you wanted to be a DJ and how did it all start for you?

Started at 16 years old just mixing on 12:10s then went to study music production. Kept on playing and producing and got some big releases and support from top djs such as Tiesto, I have been lucky enough to play all over the world including China, Brazil and India.

How would you describe your DJing style?

I would say I have my own style, by making mash-ups and remixes on the fly and blending multiple genres. Really get creative when I dj on 4x cdj’s

Who is your biggest inspiration?

Honestly no one, don’t really look up to people and what other people have achieved. I just kind of do my own thing, strut along Dj and produce ha ha.

What is the first record / CD / MP3 you ever bought?

Ministry of Sound Clubbers Guide To Ibiza, banging compilation album, still have it and play it sometimes.

What track can you listen to over and over that never gets tired for you?

The Prodigy ALL ALBUMS ha ha.

When was the first time you played a set in front of a live audience – virtual or physical?

Was about when I was 20ish, played at my friends birthday, was awesome and all on vinyl.

What is your set-up as DJ like? How and for what reasons has your set-up evolved over the years and what are currently some of the most important pieces of gear for you?

At the moment I have the pioneer XDK – RX2 all in one unit, love it. I used to have Stanton’s vinyl players then managed to get hold of a set of 12:10s then 2xcdj’s 850’s then some other cdj’s now have the all in unit. You need to change your gear for what the clubs have as you don’t want to rock up to a club and they have all different gear and especially when you prepare for a set and the club have an older or newer mixer or cdj’s. It’s important to change with the times even though cdj’s are crazy expensive now. Most important equipment now is my USB stick as that has my whole set on there, if I lose that I am screwed ha ha.

What is one staple item all DJs should own?

USB sticks and a decent set of headphones. And a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Let’s say you have a gig coming up in TheFlamingo.Club tonight. What is your approach? From material selection to preparation for opening your set?

Go through my whole selection and choose what will work and won’t, make some remixes and mash-ups in advance to play out :).

How far do you tend to plan ahead during a set?

Anywhere from 1 week to 2 months 2 months being a festival or a tour as I need to make some new tracks and remixes to play out.

Can you describe your state of mind during a DJ set? Do particular things ever distract you?

Concentration levels at 100% depends though how much I have drank before ha ha. Can’t stand it when people try and come up to the dj deck or people dancing around me and bumping into me, so distracting and annoying, (you know who you are ha ha).
